Jack Ryan Jr. is caught in the cross-hairs of a would-be tyrant in this exhilarating thriller in Tom Clancy's #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Jack Ryan, Jr., is on his own. He's been ousted from his position at the Campus, the off-the-books intelligence agency that was set up by his father, the President. As if that's not bad enough, someone is out for Jack‘s blood. The police think that he was just the victim of a mugging, but he knows a professional assassin when he kills one.

Using clues found on his would-be dispatcher, Jack launches his own shadow campaign to uncover the brutal truth about a world-renowned philanthropist and human rights advocate—and a long-running false-flag war of terror that has claimed thousands of lives....

Not even a close second to Tom Clancy...

This is the first book review I have ever written, but felt compelled to share my opinion. “Duty and Honor” written by Grant Blackwood was so filled with trite cliches and predictable outcomes, I was tempted to simply not read it to completion. Don’t waste your time or money by purchasing a book authored by this Tom Clancy wannabe. Disappointing at best!!

Jack stood. Jack opened the door. Jack stepped on the balcony. Jack said to say put. Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jumped over the candlestick. I kept thinking "See Dick, see Jane, see Spot run." Are you kidding me? I didn't think it was possible to write a story worse than Red Rabbit but this booked proved me wrong. Lousy plot, second grade English, poor characters. The Clancy estate best fire Blackwood before he ruins the franchise. Save you time and money because this effort is worthless. If I could rate it zero stars I would.

Duty and honor

Preposterous plot.

DarkbladeDemon

A decent spy novel

This book does give an interesting premise and delivers plenty of action and suspense, though the characters start to pile up a little into the second act and the ending seems a bit rushed to please the Clancy estate. Overall, though, this is yet another excellent novel by Grant Blackwood, who has done a wonderful job in writing Jack Ryan novels after Clancy's passing.

Bring back Greaney

This being the second book Tom Clancy book written by Mr. Blackwood following the passing of Mr. Clancy, I had higher hopes that this would improve upon "Dead or Alive." However, this book follows a very simplistic formula that is generally not associated with a Clancy book, but is in keeping with his prior work, "Under Fire." DoA serves as proof that the author is capable of a fully immersive story with multiple ongoing arcs but the lack of any of the other characters from the Clancy-verse makes me wonder if he only has the rights to Jack Ryan, Jr. That is the only explanation that makes any sense to me. Should that be the case, the Clancy estate should make that clear so that we do not expect something so immersive when the book is more of a spin off series. However, without an explanation I'm simply judging the book as is and the read proves disappointing. The book is without the typical covert expertise that is associated with Clancy books. I expect more than a bumbling character that blindly continues to stumble through success. There is very little in this book that does not follow a typical plot line from many prior spy stories. The abrupt ending was also off putting. I hope the next book gets us on track.

No more for me, thanks

Tom Clancy Duty and Honor

Tom Clancy is rolling over in his grave. This was a very disappointing waste of the Clancy name and reputation. Not worth the price and not worth the time spent reading it. RIP, Jack Ryan. This storyline is now finished for me, an eager fan of the Real Tom Clancy since Red Storm Rising.

Really badly written. A lot of unnecessary details that do not add to the plot nor develop the characters. Shame on you, Tom Clancy for allowing this to be published.

Waste of time and money

This book was so poorly written. The story line is a joke, and Ryan was totally incompetent as was the author. Disappointed beyond description.

Spencer1989

Do you promise to tell the...

Sleeping Pill

Two pages and one is sleeping peacefully thinking of never reading of Jack Jr again. This is one of the more shallow attempts at prose by the Clancy commune. Bottom line: the characters are not interesting; and The story line neither shaken nor stirred.

Tom Clancy Duty and Honor

A long long way from Tom Clancy's quality material. All of the characters that made up the successful series are missing here. Jack Ryan,Jr. is operating on his own. Frankly, the book gets a little boring: something of a disappointment.

Disappointing

Worst "Clancy" book ever. Boring and predictable plot. Uses the same phrases over and over.....and over and over. Should use a thesaurus next time he tries to put his name next to Tom Clancy's on a book cover.

Simple story

Decent read, but very simplistic. Since it was a Jack Ryan novel without the Campus I didn't expect it to be a complex book, but hoped it would be more than a basic flat plot line. I feel like he just rushed to publish a book.

Jack Jr

Awesome book!!!!!

azherrfun

Worst Yet

Stan kallmann

Duty and honor

Preposterous plot.

DarkbladeDemon

A decent spy novel

This book does give an interesting premise and delivers plenty of action and suspense, though the characters start to pile up a little into the second act and the ending seems a bit rushed to please the Clancy estate. Overall, though, this is yet another excellent novel by Grant Blackwood, who has done a wonderful job in writing Jack Ryan novels after Clancy's passing.

"Growing Pains"

Junior has become a man of his own convictions. Get a sense of how Senior became the man he did!

Wish it was longer

what a disappointment

the first time I didn't read the reviews before I bought. What a mistake. You'd think with the name Tom Clancy attached and a Jack Ryan novel it would be good. This goes nowhere and goes there for no reason. Waste of time and money.

Tom Clancy Duty and Honor

What a waste of time and money. Grant Blackwood is trading on the Tom Clancy name. I finished reading this book, only because I paid for it. The character development was banal, as were the characters. The plot was AWFUL, AAWFUL, AWFUL. I should file a class action suit against Grant Blackwood and the publisher, or better yet hire the Hendley Group to put an end to their nonsense. Yechhhh

Disappointing

This was by far the worst “Tom Clancy” book ever. I have read every single “Clancy” book published. For the first time, I couldn’t make it through one.

verybad1379

Worst "Clancy" book ever

The author does not do Mr. Clancy's memory justice. Slow, boring, predictable. Jack Jr. does things that are not in line with his character. Greaney was a much better author.

Nick231979

Disappointing read. Nowhere near as good as the books in the series

I have read all of the Jack Ryan/The Campus books and this book in the series lacked the thrill and excitement that the other ones have had. The characters never really developed and the book failed to capture the reader.

AG Grant

Duty & Honor

A mildly intriguing and entertaining yarn that fundamentally opens in the weeds and never escapes them. Although it reflects some diligent map reading geography of the Northeast US and western Europe, the tale lacks a compelling theme in its wanderings. Not much substance.

Fast paced, however, a lot of literary license in this book. Not up to a Tom Clancy classic, needs more realism.

The makers of Melatonin and NightAll should contact Blackwood for an infomercial, as this Clancy rendering is definitely "sleep city". What a simplistic load of verbal tripe! Blackwood should go back to slapping tape on boxes at UPS and leave Clancy style writing to real men!
